CTHULHU'S DARK SPAWN

by

Ron Shiflet

Through fog-shrouded streets I flee in terror,
Pursued by things that man should not know.
An invocation, my fatal error,
Pride and arrogance have now brought me low.
Foolishly daring to summon creatures
To abet me in my unholy quest.
Reeling in shock from their loathsome features,
My unsteady nerves cannot pass the test.

With each step I take it becomes quite clear
I cannot escape these Tentacled Ones.
My lungs nearly bursting, running in fear,
From creatures older than dying suns.
I know it's over, can't last until dawn,
Embraced at last by Cthulhu's Dark Spawn.
