WHEN OLD GODS AWAKEN

by

Ron Shiflet

When old gods awaken the world will reel
And sanity will flee in disbelief
Ground 'neath a monstrous, cyclopean heel,
To which god do we implore for relief?

But all will be doomed when the stars align
As foretold in the old books, forbidden.
All just a part of some eldritch design,
A dark truth that from most remained hidden.

Why did our guardians, noble and wise,
Fail to warn us of those now arriving?
All that we believed was nothing but lies,
Overturned by an evil, now thriving.

Cthulhu and Hastur, so many more,
Now awaken from aeons old slumber.
Mankind is drowning in rivers of gore,
Food for daemons, which swiftly outnumber!
