AT NIGHT I DREAM . . .

by

Ron Shiflet

At night I dream . . .
Of red-rimmed eyes and obscene hunger,
Eldritch races of whom man is younger.

At night I dream . . .
Of R'lyeh beneath the turbulent waves,
And of hapless victims who have no graves.

At night I dream . . .
Of crypts beneath the Arabian sand,
Containing those who will walk the land.

At night I dream . . .
Of dimensions where chaos reigns supreme,
Where the only sound is an endless scream.

At night I dream . . .
Of crumbling Innsmouth, best left forgotten,
And its horrid folk so misbegotten.

At night I dream . . .
Of a time when Old Ones rule the earth,
When mankind's nightmares are given birth.
