THE FOLKS ONE MEETS IN INNSMOUTH

Dedicated to Franklyn Searight

by

Ron Shiflet

The folks one meets in Innsmouth
Are indeed a strange, queer lot.
Seeming never to have recovered
From that which their misdeeds wrought.

Since '28 the town has crept
Into a slow, insidious decay
And of the dwindling population
Few can tell just why they stay.

They mistrust most every stranger
And hide secrets from the light.
But they seem to be more open
With a fellow named Searight.

I'll surely never go there
And it's probably for the best.
I can read "The Folks of Innsmouth"
And learn about the rest.
