FOLKS OF INNSMOUTH

Priest of Dagon

by

Franklyn Searight

A huge tiara rides the sloping head
Of this strange priest who's recognized by all
The Innsmouth residents who weekly meet
To worship fearful things at Dagon Hall.
Instead of chanting to unholy gods
On every Hallowe'en, and May-Eve, too,
He should be preaching tenderness and love
And guide his flock in all things good and true.
But it's too late to salvage his dark soul --
This guy who should be mould'ring in his grave.
He should have died two hundred years ago!
God knows there's nothing human left to save.
